UMC SIFE Students Named Regional Champions for Eighth Consecutive Year at Business Competition in Minneapolis

University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) students were recognized for their outstanding efforts to improve the quality of life for the Crookston community and Norwest region of Minnesota at a regional conference in Minneapolis. UMC Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) earned SIFE Regional Champion status at the organization's annual regional conference, held this past weekend, marking the eighth consecutive year UMC's team has earned the title. UMC SIFE Team Takes Home Honors in Regional Competition

On Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the "Duel on the River" competition in St. Cloud, Minnesota, the UMC SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) team won the third place trophy and $1,500 in prize money. The "Duel on the River" is a regional competition where several teams compete for cash prizes by analyzing a personal finance case. Teams work approximately 36 hours preparing their case and then present findings and recommendations to a panel of judges. Read more...
UMC SIFE Club to Host Business Ethics Debate
(November 2, 2005) The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) will host a debate on business ethics in Kiehle Auditorium on Monday, November 7 at 6:00 p.m. The debate will feature UMC faculty members Eric Burgess, Christo Robberts, Sharon Neet, Brent Sorenson, and Sister Marietta Geray. Also featured in the debate will be Lincoln Bathie from North Dakota State University who also serves as the North Dakota’s District 44 Treasurer. Read more...
UMC SIFE Team Named Regional Champion

After presenting a report of their year-long community outreach projects to a panel of business leaders, the University of Minnesota, Crookston SIFE Team was named a SIFE USA Regional Champion in the overall competition. They were also named a finalist in the Investment Banking and Markets Division of HSBC SIFE USA National Personal Financial Success Skills Competition and the SIFE USA Business Ethics Competition sponsored by Campbell’s and Sealed Air.
