Getting started in Applied Studies@UMC:
Faculty
advisor Lynnette Mullins can answer questions about the program and will
direct you to do the following:
Submit your transcripts
from post-secondary institutions for an evaluation of how transfer credits
will be accepted.
Enroll in AplS
3001, Individual Program Development (to begin tailoring your degree
to meet your career objectives).
Work with your
academic advisor to establish a "program requirements form" (link to it? )that assures you will complete a minimum of 50 credits
in your program, a minimum of 48 credits in general education, and a
minimum of 40 credits taken at the upper division level, for an overall
total of 120 credits for graduation.
Review the UMC
class schedule with your advisor to determine if any course could be "challenged" for credit without taking it. You can take a
comprehensive exam for credit instead of taking the course.
Work with your
advisor to determine if you have achieved learning from previous work
experiences that could be documented and validated to earn credits through
the Competency
Assessment Portfolio process.
