Awards and Recognition

The Service Learning office tries to give recognition where recognition is due. In the 2005-06 school year, UMC students logged more than 17,000 service hours in and around Crookston, through service learning projects for class, volunteering for clubs, or just volunteering for themselves. Of the total hours of service performed by students, approximately 11,000 were service learning projects.

That is a huge amount of hours put in by approximately 700 students. As a way of recognizing everybody's efforts, the Service Learning office created four awards given to students and faculty:

UMC Student Volunteer of the Year

Faculty Service Learning Award

Dale Knotek Community Service Award

President's Student Service Award (PSSA)

Outstanding Service Learning Community Partner
