A THANKSGIVING PROGRAM - "A Time of Thanksgiving" will be held at the Hafslo Church (on campus in the back of Dowell) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 1999. The program will feature Dale Knotek, speaker; Campus Ministry Students; The UMC Choir, The UMC Band Ensemble and Special Soloists. Everyone is invited to attend and admission is free. UMC Campus Ministry and the UMC Music-Theater Department are sponsoring the event.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO STUDY ABROAD? - There is a new Study Abroad being offered summer 2000. UMC students can earn credit while traveling and learning with teachers from UMC, Bemidji State and, Virginia Tech. SPRING SEMESTER 2000 REGISTRATION - Early registration for spring semester 2000 begins on November 29th and runs through December 9th. Class schedules are now available at the Office of the Registrar. The on-line class schedule is linked from the "one-stop" student services webpage at: http://www.umcrookston.edu/people/oestop/index.htm. Check your scheduled registration time on p. 39 of the printed schedule or from the "one-stop" links. Remember, you can register anytime after your scheduled registration time, either in person or via the web.

JOKE OF THE WEEK – Recently at a rather large wedding the young ring bearer was noticed to be wandering down the aisle behaving strangely. First he would switch the pillow to his left hand, paw at the air with his right hand, and growl loudly. As he approached the front of the church he switched the pillow to his right hand and pawed at the air with his left hand, again growling loudly. As he stopped before the minister the reverend bent down and quietly asked him what he was doing. Surprised he loudly informed everybody, "I am the ring bear."

MEET YOUR STUDENT FORUM MEMBERS – This week’s member is: Chris Shulstad. Chris is a Junior majoring in Ag Industries Sales & Management. His hometown is Pelican Rapids. Chris is the chair of the Community Service. Chris is the club Senator for the Management Club, Multicultural/International Club, NACTA and Natural Resources. Chris says " I am in charge of the Community Service for Crookston Student Association. I am here for any club for information and/or help on ideas."

ACADEMIC PROGRESS AUDIT SYSTEM (APAS) REPORTS - All students, except those whose first term of attendance was Fall Semester, 1999 will receive an APAS report in their UMC mailbox. The APAS report shows completed or to-be-completed general education and major requirements. These reports will NOT include coursework taken during Fall Semester 1999 due to the conversion to the new PeopleSoft computer system. The APAS report will show how your prior coursework completes "quarter-based" requirements unless you have informed the Registrar's Office that you plan to complete "semester-based" requirements. Please notify the Registrar's Office if you need to update your record to reflect the semester requirements. You may do so by sending an e-mail to val@mail.crk.umn.edu. NOTES FROM THE HORSEMAN'S ASSOCIATION/IHSA - The Western horse show team (IHSA) attended their second show of the season in Iowa, November 6 & 7 and took high point on Saturday. Kelly Fulton also won the high point individual placing on Saturday. At the teams first show at South Dakota State University the team took reserve high point team both days. A team must have the most top placings in each individual class throughout the entire show to win the high point teams in an IHSA show. The team with the most top placings overall is awarded high point team. Anyone interested in joining the IHSA or the Horseman's Association is encouraged to attend meetings on Mondays in UTOC, or contact Anita Stark.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY - Each year the Minnesota Women's Center of the University of Minnesota administers the Carol E. Macpherson Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance for women students who are over the age of 28 and are returning to school after a five year or more absence. The awards this year will range from $500 to $4,000. If you feel you may qualify for this scholarship and want more information stop by and see Meloni in Bede 106.
