TRIVIA—This week’s trivia winner is Barb Belanger. The question was: Name the only mammal that can fly. Barb answered a bat or a human in an airplane. Congrats Barb and thanks for the humor. She can stop by and pick up her free Grand Theater movie pass from Meloni or Pam. This week’s trivia question is: Where does Homer Simpson Work? Write your answer on a slip of paper along with your name and e-mail address and drop it off in the box located at the Bede Information Desk by Noon, Thursday, January 20. We will draw a winner from the correct answers. The winner's name will appear in the January 24th Regal’s Report.

FALL SEMESTER GRADES WILL NOT BE PRINTED AND SENT TO STUDENTS -- Fall Semester Grades are available on the Web. You can check your grades by going to the Student Services One Stop page at: http://www.umcrookston.edu/people/onestop/index.htm and selecting "Enrollment and Course Info"; then "Web-Based Registration Information"; then "View your Grades (NEW)". Grades are also available on the Golden Eagle Informer Line by calling 281-UofM (8636).

The most important thing about goals is having one.

MEET YOUR STUDENT FORUM MEMBERS – This week’s member is Shon Naslund. Shon is a senior majoring in Agriculture Sales and Management. His hometown is Lake Park, MN. Shon is the President of the Crookston Student Association. Shon had this to say about his position. "I am the President of the Crookston Student Association Meetings. I run the meetings and make sure the meetings are run with parliamentary Procedure. The focus of my position is to make sure the association is run in accordance with the focus of the students in mind and done in a professional manner.

STUDENT CONDUCT CODE --Students are reminded that they are responsible for the information contained in the Student Conduct Code. Copies are available at various locations around campus including the Bede Information Desk, the Library, and the Office of the Registrar. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. CELEBRATION – January 21, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. in the Bede Ballroom.

LAUREN PELON IN CONCERT – Lauren Pelon traces the story of music and instruments throughout history and performs on lute, guitar, lyre, recorders, gemshorns, cornamuse, krummhorn, schreirpfeife, shawm, racket, pennywhistles, concertina, ocarina, hurdy-gurdy, doucaine, psalteries, kiowa courting flute, electronic woodwinds and vocals. Lauren will perform Tuesday, January 25 at 7:00 p.m. in Kiehle Auditorium. Admission is free to all students. All others the cost is $2.00.

X-COUNTRY SKIING DEMONSTRATION – Dale Knotek will conduct a cross-country skiing demonstration on January 20 at 3:00 p.m. Please sign up for the demonstration at the Bede Info Desk.

OPEN GYM - There will be open gym on Tuesday, January 25; Thursday January 20 and 27. Open gym is from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

SPRING CANDIDATES FOR GRADUATION—Students intending to graduate spring semester must file an application for degree by January 21st with the Office of the Registrar, One Stop Student Service Center, 170 Owen Hall.

CHANGE IN LIBRARY HOURS FOR SPRING SEMESTER--The library hours for this semester will be Monday -Thursday-8am - 10pm; Friday 8am - 4:40pm; Saturday-1pm - 5pm; Sunday-5pm - 9pm

BLOOD DRIVE—Did you know your body has between 8 and 12 pints of blood? It’s easy to spare one! UMC’s Blood Drive is Tuesday, January 25th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Bede Ballroom. Stop by the SCC Entrance between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to sign up, or call Stacey at 8512. Thank you for your continued support of this very important event.

Strange but true… It’s impossible to give a hug without getting one back.

"SINK OR SWIM" THE 6TH ANNUAL STUDENT SUCCESS FAIR—will be held Wednesday, January 26th from 10-2 in the SCC Lobby. The Student Success Fair is intended to bring together representatives of the components of academic success (study skills, good health, support services, clubs and organizations, nutrition, goal setting/decision-making, AODAP, good use of resources, spiritual development, planning skills, etc.) to remind and encourage students to get off to a strong start as the new semester begins.

"LIVING A LIFE THAT MATTERS" – In conjunction with the Student Success Fair, Judy Siegle from Merit Care Hospital in Fargo will be speaking at dinner in Brown Dining on January 26th from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and will then be available for questions and answers. Ms. Siegle is a successful professional on staff at Merit Care as a social worker, but she is also a highly competitive wheelchair athlete whose life was changed in an accident a few days before she was to begin her college life at Concordia. Everyone is welcomed to bring your dinner tray and listen to this motivational speaker.

ACCESS TO STUDENT EDUCATIONAL RECORDS -- In accordance with Regents' policy on access to student records, information about a student generally may not be released to a third party without the student's permission. (Exceptions under the law include state and federal educational and financial aid institutions.) some student information -- name, address, electronic (e-mail) address, telephone number, dates of enrollment and enrollment status (full time, part time, not enrolled, withdrawn, and date of withdrawal), college and class, major, adviser, academic awards and honors received, and degrees earned -- is considered public or directory information. Students may prevent the release of public information by completing a form available at the Office of the Registrar, One Stop Student Center, 170 Owen Hall. Something to think about - If a word is misspelled in the dictionary, how would we every know? Hmmm.

SURVIVAL BINGO – Friday, January 21 at 8:00 p.m. in Bede Ballroom. Prizes will consist of items college students need to survive away from home. Join us for an evening of fun. Sponsored by S.P.A.C.E.

UMC VOLLEYBALL HOSTS "SUB-ZERO" VOLLEYBALL MIXER—The UMC Volleyball programs will once again be sponsoring their Annual "Sub-Zero" Volleyball Mixer. Coach Kelly Hollands defines the Volleyball Mixer as a blender. "We put all the players into a pool, shake them up and spit them out into equally divided coed teams." Hollands says that it is a fun day for volleyball enthusiast to play volleyball and meet new people who come to the mixer. Thus being the "Mixer" part of the volleyball tournament. The proceeds go to the UMC Volleyball program. The event will be held Saturday, January 29 at UMC’s Sport Center. Registration will be from 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. The cost is $8 per person. Early Registration can be sent to Kelly Hollands.

WANT TO MAKE SOME $$$-- An Ag Industries Tradeshow is being held in conjunction with Ag Arama on January 29, 2000. This is a contest in which students s ell any product to a set of judges. It is similar to an FFA Sales Contest if you are familiar with this. You are responsible for bringing all your needed materials and the time of judging will be determined later according to the number of participants.
