Agronomy Club
Agronomy and ag business students as well as other students that have interest in agriculture come together to learn from each other, travel educationally and maintain a strong agriculture department at UMC.
Club's principle activities, events and programs:
The UMC Agronomy Club hosts an annual Beet Harvest Spaghetti Feed each fall following the sugar beet harvest in the Red River Valley. This allows all farmers to get together, have a home-cooked meal and converse about this year’s success as well as next year’s goals. This is the Agronomy Club’s main fundraiser as well as social event.
The Agronomy Club also enjoys taking a four day weekend in the spring to travel to an area and tour the agriculture businesses and spend the weekend together in another city. In 2005 we went to Brandon, Manitoba and in 2007 we went to Minneapolis, Minnesota and in 2008 Minot, North Dakota.
Club's community service:
Adopt-A-Highway, UMC Ag Activities Day, Ag-Arama, Regional FFA Contests, Meals on Wheels, Packaging for AURI, and Sugar Beet Museum.
