Skyberg Hall, primarily a first year student residence hall, contains double rooms and triple rooms.  Each floor has a multipurpose lounge and kitchenette.  The building is coed, features special facilities for students with disabilities, and has an information and service desk area providing a variety of services.

History
Skyberg Hall opened as a residence hall in the fall of 1971. Cost of the structure at that time was approximately $1.5 million. The building is named after Herman Skyberg, a 1916 NWSA graduate who went on to become a University of Minnesota Regent.

Herman Skyberg was one of the first potato growers in the Red River Valley, and was a key player in developing area farm organizations and cooperatives in the 1920s and 30s. Skyberg died in 1968 while serving his fourth six-year term as a University regent.

Skyberg considered his work in helping establish UMC one of his major life accomplishments. He believed the development of higher education in rural communities had suffered because of its metropolitan emphasis.
